Caduceus Wins CDC Zika Virus Support Services Contract

Atlanta, GA - Carlos Lopez, CEO is pleased to announce that Caduceus has partnered with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to provide support services in the Zika virus research project.  Caduceus will be working closely with the National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic, Infectious Diseases (NCEZID), Division of Vector-BorneDiseases (DVBD), a geographically-remote division of NCEZID, which is located in San Juan, Puerto Rico.  The Dengue Branch is one of four branches in the division.

The Dengue Branch provides global leadership in assessing the risk of dengue.  It conducts research and translates such research into effective public health practices.  Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne tropical disease caused by the dengue virus. For over 30 years, the Branch has investigated outbreaks and collected, analyzed, and reported dengue cases from Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, and the mainland US.

The Branch has been on the frontlines of a massive public health response to the emergence of the Zika virus in Latin America. Zika is transmitted by the same mosquito as dengue and both diseases present similar symptoms in patients: as acute febrile illnesses with joint pain, headaches and rash.

The purpose of this partnership is for Caduceus to provide the necessary management and personnel to assist the operations and mission of the Dengue Branch.  The services provided will include administrative, laboratory, epidemiological, clinical investigation, entomological, field investigation, health communication, data management and information technology support.

“We are very pleased to be partnering with the NCEZID’s Dengue Branch and will deliver the same outstanding service we provided the CDC during the Ebola Airport Screening mission,” said Carlos Lopez, CEO and founder of Caduceus.

Caduceus has provided staffing solutions for the healthcare, technology, and science industries since 2008, with a focus on the government sector. Caduceus is based in Atlanta, GA with satellite offices in Springfield, VA and Detroit, MI.
